...lovely old tree.

It smells of spunk!

I've just been out to post a letter and was caught off guard by its startling aroma. It's a very common species I'm sure. What is it, botanists of the PRF? Why does it reek of man-jizz?

Hmmm.

It smells like your spunk perhaps.

I can't imagine you have enough overall knowledge of the aroma of spunk in general to make a statement that this tree smells like all spunk.

Or do you?

there's a tree near to where i live that reeks everytime you walk past it, especially on damp/wet days.

i think that has more to do with people shitting right by it though...

I'll tell you what would be interesting - planting one of these in a lavender field.

Tonight's Book At Bedtime on Radio Four is Alan Bennett's 'The Spunk Tree', read by Thora Hird. That is, the ghost of Thora Hird. The spunky-smelling ghost of Thora Hird. The spunky-smelling ghost of Thora Hird that has taken tree-form and is haunting Chris Herbert.

Ornamental pear trees are apparently called 'sperm trees' by many, although that's not what your spunky growth is.

Your cummy greenery is a Chinese chestnut I reckon.

Chinese chestnut (Castanea molissima) whose inflorescences produce a pungent, displeasing odor, like that of human semen.

Gold star for you Adam, that looks (and smells) to be the culprit. It really honks.

DRC - I have now wasted upwards of twenty minutes scouring the web for a Shackleton's High Seat Chair ad, Thora's greatest moment - 'my niece got it from Shackleton's you know...first she sent for their brochure, and then she visited their showroom.'
