Managers of Bennigan's restaurants in Calumet City, Deerfield and North Michigan Avenue told Newsradio 780 that they were told this morning of the restaurants' closings, and one manager said the shutdown is nationwide.
That is completely fucked up. Any solid number for the people left jobless by this? Notes on the door informing staff is pretty fucking shitty by any standard.

It's got nothing to do with the economy. Bennigan's went out of business because of a
Cracked Out song.

I can't say I'm shocked considering the industry.
I feel horrible for the staff of any of these places, but I can hope that there's some kind of regeneration through destruction. It's an awful business model.

the brand new one we had here went belly up last year...wow, the whole shebang is going...just as well though, the food was mediocre...i feel for the staff members...

I did the next best thing and called two different Bennigans locations near my home. Both are open for business and don't know a damn thing about the chain closing. Sounds like someone is spreading an urban legend. (Though given how crap their food is, it wouldn't bother me that much if they went away.)
EDIT: OK, I stand corrected, but the locations not directly owned by Metromedia are staying open, for those who you who still buy into that "eatin' good in the neighborhood" thing.

They offered unlimited refills on soda back when everywhere else you paid $1.50 a glass. That's the best thing I can say about Bennigan's. The french dip wasn't bad.
