If say... you were going to try to interview Gary Floyd and Buxf Parrot for a publication about their fucking awesome band?

I've got some plans but would be interested to hear what others might be curious to know. I'll post a link to download a PDF of the thing once it's finished.

I would ask Gary about his feelings on being one of the groundbreakers, in terms of being an openly gay punk rocker. I think, at the time, it was him, Biscuit, and maybe one or two other people.

Yes burun - that's definitely on the agenda. Dave Dictor too - of The Stains/MDC - he may be Bi. Not sure. Still, I imagine Texas was not the easiest place to be 'out'.

Esp in relation to some of the more "macho"/homophobic aspect of the hardcore scene that came after them.

I would definitely ask for a hug and bring a pie with me to the interview, which I would demand to have happen in person.

The Dicks are so fucking special. Like the Big Boys, they had soul. So many punk bands screaming about cops and crap sound like macho garbage now. The Dicks deliver, still. I listen to a shitload of the Dicks at least once a week.

They seemed like a beautiful culmination of circumstance--various quantities of truly innate weirdness, anger and creativity, weird-o isolation in Texas, being queer in fucking Texas in the fucking 80's, in fucking hardcore.

I wanna know what was going into those great brains--substance wise, musical consumption, book-wise. And what they hated, musically and in pop culture in general.

I also recommend giving them a Bitter Tears record. I'll send you one.
