so?

I had the original. A whopping 16MB. I added a memory chip to give me 32MB. I haven't owned once since.

I have to say that I haven't found a newer mp3 device that can match the ergonomic functionality of the clickwheel.

EDIT: I forgot - I had the Zen for a bit. The display went out - did this on a friend of mine's as well. Returned it to Buy.com just before the 30 day return window and got an Ipod mini.

My experience with the Zen... Crap.

I have a Muvo 1 GB. I sort of want it to break so I could buy a bigger one (retarded, I know) but this thing refuses to break in any significant way (I can live with a crack on a screen which contradicts everything I read about Muvo players.

Thing I really like is batteries life. I remember being surprised by how a single AAA battery lasts.

NOT CRAP.

Oh, and the headphones are always CRAP. Mine cost more than the player, but it's well worth to spend more than $20 on them. Difference in sound is amazing.

As I said in the metrosexual iPod thread, my first serious mp3 player was a 60gb Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra. Had it for like three years. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue like "iPod", but it was a workmanlike, stable piece of player and could be counted on for good times. It now belongs to my Dad after he gave me an 80gb Zune for my birthday. That Zune currently has a fractured screen and possibly a broken hard drive, so that just goes to show how durable the Creative player was as opposed to that all-polish no-padding Zune.

My real first mp3 player was a Creative 64mb NomadII with a little microphone. Everything that was recorded through it always sounded a little fuzzy. I enjoyed it.

Not Crap.
