Someone in Israel is selling one for 2500NIS which is something like 781 USD but I might get to lower the guy to 2000.
Are these any good? what's their price in the US?
kthx!

2I never used one but I just read that it's all tube and point to point and gets great distortion. If you can get him down to $500 or $600 USD then you should probably get it. Aren't you always telling us about the shortage of vintage tube amps is Israel?
I think they are going for $400 to $600 here in the states. Maybe more.

3Seems a bit steep to me.
Similar to earlier Marshalls. Good quality parts. Fairly cheap in the UK.

4These are the best sounding Sound City heads. Around here, 5-600 bucks is about right. Varies by region and such.
Most Sound City heads, like the SMF Tour Series I sold this past year after owning it for 30 years, are way too beasty. Mine had a 6-EL34 power section and wouldn't work properly unless it had two cabinets hooked up.
It's a very good head, but of course try it out first. Extremely well put together.

5It's true, most vintage tube amps here are Marshall JCM's and silverface bassmans.
If I buy one from the states or UK for 500, it'll end up being 700(with shipping) and I'll probably need to pay some taxes, so eventually it'll turn out being the same as buying it from that guy.
It'll be ace if I get him to lower the price to 2000NIS which is 625 USD. Decent.
If it sounds like early marshalls then I might not get it, I have YBA 1 which is also an early-marshall-like amp. I think I'll go and try it out.
Thanks!!

6Personally, I don't think they sound like early Marshalls, and the construction is much more Hiwatt-like.
Definitely try it out. I think they have a brighter, cleaner distortion than Marshall.

8Seems like your mind is pretty well made up, but I'll add another 'go for it' to the pile. Good amps, and even if it doesn't blow you away as is they are easy to modify into something more like a Hiwatt or an Orange. The important thing is the excellent transformers, chassis construction and simple wiring layout.
Don't shun it. Fun it.

9They distort and sound great. Early marshallish... Great for guitar. Perhaps a little dark for rhodes for some people (but not for me. open up the treble, though...). I would say it's kind of expensive, but sound cities aren't the well kept secret they were...

10CLEAN AS FUCK
I feel that price is steep..
I was infected with a sound city craze for awhile. My favorite one was the concord combo.
