i did apologise to the cat last time. she looked slightly embarassed by me and my partner's antics.
and yes, upon consummation of the conjugal act i always thank my partner. we then shake hands and retire to the lounge for refreshments.

Saying thanks (or sorry) implies the enjoyment was not mutual. I would be weirded out by this, and would not do it.
