Rice. Hands down.
I think this might be a weird button for me or something. The very second I saw this poll I was momentarily angry that anyone might vote beans. I never knew until this very moment that I cared about rice so much. The things you learn about yourself in these binary choices.

Beans by far, especially in Indian dishes. They're even crafty enough to make crisp wafers (pappadums) out of lentils.

I like beans in Mexican cuisine better than rice in Mexican cuisine, but rice in most other applications.
There is not a San Francisco Treat called Beans-a-Roni, though there might be a mobster by that name.
