My long hair cat has never been happier.

My cousin breeds and shows Persians. She does the shave down thing (that sounds so wrong) once a year during non-show season, or whatever they call it. Living in Hawaii, she does not have to do the stupid sweater thing, but if the cats are from a cold area, it is advisable.

Also, if a long haired cat is really matted, not much other choice really.

I'd be pissed off if someone shaved me down to look like that.

Had to do that very thing to my Main Coon cat. Someone was shaving her down and cut up my cat--I had to take her immediately to the vet to get her stitches. If I ever have a long-hair cat that gets too matted again, I will not be taking him/her to S&C pets.

That is one pissed off kitten. I would totally cut my cat's hair like that, minus the stupid fur boots thing (those aren't necessary, are they? I don't own a cat, never have) (actually, maybe that is why I would cut "my cat's" hair like that).
