This falls out of the thread scope, since it's not Craigslist or ebay, and it wasn't a purchase...but I'm bringing it up to offer to share the love with PRFers. One recent blog post I'd read reminded me of the Wall of Voodoo rhythm machine (Joe Nanini era); someone had called it a Kalamazoo Rhythm Ace, which is plainly wrong. A bit of investigation shows that it'd be either a Maestro Rhythm King (made in Kalamazoo) or an Acetone Rhythm Ace. When I was but a whelp, I'd seen the Call of the West era WoV live, and the Maestro Rhythm King is what was onstage.

Thinking that someone, somewhere, had digitized these sounds, I started poking around. Individual instrument hits are available here:

http://www.submodern.com/slowburn/?p=736

and I'm going to use them. But what if one wants the classic loops? One can get them here:

http://www.rhythminmind.net/drumsamples.html

...but they're in ReCycle audio loop format (.rx2) there. Doing a bit more poking about, I found a converter with a free trial period, and I've converted them to 16-bit .aiff (essentially the same as .wav; if you need .wavs, you should be able to convert them yourself). And so, ladies and gentlemen of the PRF, you may download them from here, if you're so inclined:

I was a bit surprised that it doesn't have a 3 prong plug, so I'm going to add an IEC socket. I'm going to just attach the ground wire to the chassis, but I'm wondering if I should maybe have a switch or something so I can cut that connection to get rid of any potential ground loops that show up. I know my IVP's power ground connection is the same as the chassis ground and instrument ground, so there's a definite potential for ground loops with it.I don't have a cab right now, and I was wondering whether a sealed 2x12 or a 1x15 would be more versatile for guitar and bass (and keyboard?). I don't really anticipate doing much in the way of live gigs for a year, so this would mainly be for jamming together on some righteous (in the non-religious sense) grooves and micing for recording purposes.2x12. don't ask me about speakers, my guess is something with a good freq. curve, and high power rating.

Thanks for the Maestro rhythm samples Maurice, lord knows why but I've just spent an enjoyable twenty minutes running them through every gain gizmo I could lay my hands on and turned them into a miniature pastiche of power electronics. I'll have a bash at Suicide next!

Beyer M380 with bidding ending on September 12, 2001.
Due to the obvious goings-on at the time, bidding was slow-to-nothing, and due to the fact that there was no reserve, I got it for $95.
For the record, my max bid was about twice that and I, too, was paying no attention to ebay at the time. I'd made my bid days earlier and had kind of forgotten about the thing until the winning bidder email arrived.
