It sounds like the lizard with a different singer....which I don't want.. are we any better off?

Why do a cover if it's gonna sound so similar?

Is the band making a statement to the effect of: "We sound like the JL, look, we even cover a song!" , or maybe it's not even for they're own gain..."If you don't like us, you can listen to these guys, they sound just like this, but we're hotter, just look at our website, it says so"

It sounds like the same guitar, but different sound on the bass and drums, but even so, why ruin a perfectly good song? david yows voice adds a certain uniqueness to the band that cant be mimiced, doing so would just make it sound completely... like this lame cover

You have butchered a perfectly mediocre Jesus Lizard song. You could have at least given the jocko-homo treatment to Lady Shoes or Boilermaker...wait, scratch that, keep mutilating my least-favourite JL tunes if you must mutilate any.

On a positive note, you do share the number one spot for worst Jesus Lizard ripoff band with Tomahawk. If it weren't for my overwhelming dislike of Mike Patton, you'd probably have pushed them into second. Phew.

Yeah, so the cover isnt that great. This band isnt as nearly as bad as people are making them out to be, as the songs in their videos section are much better than this one bad cover.

Theyre just ok actually, Im just trying to look on the greener side of the grass for this one. Thats just my optimistic self speaking.

Tomahawk is not a jesus lizard ripoff. They have the same guitarist, which is why there is a similarity, but other than that, they are not similar, they are both good bands

The original's bass line was far better. Tell your bull fiddle player to not noodle after the '3 and' if he wants it to have the original's punch.

no we are not making any statement whatsoever. the jesus lizard is a band i have loved since i first heard head/pure around 94. we didnt change the song much because we largely did it for fun... oh yeah fun, remember that?

in your uber superior electrical audio messageboard world you cant just take shit at face value? a band likes a song and learns it and records it without going to the mountains to really gain a larger understanding of oneself and the art of the song.. horseshit. we are making no statement whatsoever. we like it, we learned it, we recorded it, we are giving it away. take it or not. no big whoop.


anybody trying to sound like david yow, whether doing originals or covering a jesus lizard song, is a phoney baloney who wishes he had a purple pony, and is wasting their time.

we dont have videos on our site, some friends video taped a show and put a simple flash piece together so one could watch a live show without the downloads. i know in the bubble of the engineer and musical elite that videos are the death of true music and blah de blah....

more people should be covering jesus lizard, jehu, big black, shellac, table, bastro, slint, etc. just so it gets passed on to the kids. doesn't everyone agree that ironic covers are way lamer than this lame version of a jesus lizard song?

if i walked into some basement show or vfw and some high school band was covering a slint song i would be completely in awe, regardless of how well or horrible they played it.
