Morphine is one of a couple of jazz-fusion bands that actually pull it off.

Sharks patrol these waters, sharks patrol these waters
Don't let your fingers dangle in the water
And don't you worry about the day glow orange life preserver
It won't save you... it won't save you
Swim for the shores just as fast as you're able
Swim like a mother fucker swim.
Not crap. Plus, dude's name is SANDMAN which scores extra points with me.

'Cure for Pain' got me through some hard times, and it was very inspiring to me as a musician... No crap, No waffles, no pancakes.

Not to familiar with anything other than "the night".
That record is beautiful, sad and sexxxy.
Seems to run parallel to my love of the Afghan whigs.
I own the "night" and "gentlemen" yet, nothing else from either band.
Any recomendations for other great morphine records?
Dying on stage (in italy) is a hell of a way to go. VIVA Le MORPHINE!!!
NOT CRAP

morphine is a weird one for me. on the one hand, they had a nice, distinct sound, one that they came up with by doing *their thing* and totally owning it. but then, on the other hand, they always struck me as the soundtrack for frat boy date rape.
i'm gonna focus more on the voicing and composition of the music, rather than anything else, and say NOT CRAP.

I want to know what kind of twisted fucks you went to college with. MORPHINE, as a date rape soundtrack? What in the hell.

Twisted fucks with poor musical taste?
Morphine were CRAP. Their instrumentation seemed to have the potential to sound neat, but never did. It's a shame that Mark Sandman died, of course.
