if anything, it's a paid day off for me.

i always liked a line in an ice t "song" where he says something along the lines of "thanksgiving? you wont see me with a big ol' turkey......that's the day your forfathers jerked me!"

Native americans gave thanks to the god of turkey long before the ergot frying pilgrims thanked their lord for allowing them to conquer an entire continent.... and for the turkey too i guess.

with all this great leftover food AND 4 days of no work/school - how could this not be one of the best holidays of the year?

This is one holiday I just do not enjoy. I do not like being around most of my family, as most of them are a bunch of assholes. I don't like turkey either, or big meals.

crap.

Because you don't get any presents?

I couldn't care less about Thanksgiving, since it was mercifully never some huge deal with my family, but I do like having four days off work, so NOT CRAP it is. Since there isn't an option for that, though, I'll just not vote.

I still prefer xmas, though. For the presents.

My favorite holiday.

I like to cook. I like ordering my free-range turkey and planning how I'm going to delicious it. I am always torn between the can o'cranberries of my childhood (where you slice the tube of burgundy goo to make the most attractive presentation of the neat ring imprints from the aluminum can) and making actual cranberry dressing (I usually just do both, but not before loudly debating their different merits in public with whomever is around).

I don't really bake, though, so this is a problem as there has to be pumpkin pie.

I don't know. It's nice. My cousins are nice and they make their own insanely good bread. We all get to hang out. When I don't leave town to visit family, I'll cook Thanksgiving with friends.

No stress, just great food and some nice wine and curling up all together.

I thought that giving thanks was the point.

Hey! To say you are thankful! This is cool! Maybe you do not need a holiday to do this, but it is cool to have a prompt to "take stock" of one's blessings and get together with "loved ones". Life, she moves pretty fast and maybe we forget to do it!

Easter has a point, too, as long as you treat it as the pagan rebirth ritual that it really is.

Hey! Bunnies! Chicks! Eggs! Rising from the dead after being brutally murdered by Mel Gibson! All the same thing!

You know what holiday amuses me? The one that the Europeans call "August".

Hey! I will go the beach for 40 days! Because I am so very French!

New Year's Day! MLK Day! Presidents Day! St. Patrick's Day! Columbus Day!

I'm not your biggest fan!
