"Submarine Bells" is one of my favorite albums, so I suppose "NOT CRAP", eh?

i love so much the _brave words_ album

i love her so much

and the "house of a hundred rooms" single, si, she is so great

and "pink frost" and so forth of the older music

after the _brave words_, some moments. the _submarine bells_, si, she is some beauty in her. but _brave words_, she is heartwarming record for me.

NOT CRAP!!

Got to agree that Brave Words is better than Submarine Bells.
"Pink Frost", is available on the CD of Kaleidoscope World.
Smoke CDs has most of the
classic Flying Nun bands stuff. Be sure and take advantage of the
exchange rate.

I first was made aware of the Chills courtesy of JRLP/Downer Trio's bonus disc on Customs in which they covered 'Pink Frost'. I think Tim Cook did a limited run of these, so I don't even know if it was included on the official release date.

Dredging this old thread up.....holy shit I just got 'Brave Words' on vinyl, after transferring around the same mp3s for years. I knew that album could rock! I was sure those mp3s (at 256, mind you) were CRAP...just by listening to it, you could tell they did a digital transfer back when no one had any clue how to re-master shit for CD (the entire Sarah Records catalog comes to mind). It's bright! It's shiny! The drums pound! The electric guitar ROCKS. It's a joy, and really worth the 20$ I paid for it on GEMM.

Oh yeah, if you search 'Chills New Zealand' on YouTube you'll come up with a whole shitload of mostly Brave Words-era performances. Quite cool.

I loved this record a lot in the early 90s. Time to dig it out again.

Ooh, I want one. A Kaleidoscope World LP is my one true grail, though (this week). "Pink Frost" on vinyl: imagine it.

i've got kaleidoscope world (probably their best collection of songs), brave words (not bad, but desperately in need on a remastering), submarine bells (a few good tracks here and there), and the secret box 3xcd boxset i bought from his mom. secret box has some amazing stuff on it, particularly the live instrumental track "balancing", which is probably in my top 100 songs ever. it's a good example of what i like about rock music.

the chills = not crap

Whose mom? Martin Phillips' mom?

Would you be willing to share that track via gmail?

Thanking you in advance.

edit:
...Wait a minute. You're pulling my leg, aren't you. Clever!

no leg pulling. there were 1000 copies of Secret Box. to get one you had to buy it through his website, and Martin's mom handled the sales and mailed them out. will PM you regarding the specific track.
