I have recently purchased a Beyer M130. This is good, except I don't have any good mic stands. Can anyone suggest good, sturdy stands for drum overhead applications? I really do not want to see my lovely mic crash into my drumset.

Who the fuck would pay $1000 for a mic stand?

I've got to agree with Dylan, the Starbird is a great stand. I don't think I'd pay $1000 for it, but with $2000-$8000 of a mic on the end of a stand

A studio I used to own has a Starbird and I wish I would have gotten that when I sold my part of it to the other partner.

I've had a couple of KM tall heavy duty mic stands for a couple of years (99 pounds sterling from studiospares, I'm sure you can get them cheaper...). I've put 4038s and a U67 over drums with them without any problems. I've also used them with m130s and m160s. These stands can go pretty high too. Pretty useful .
