Hi,
I am looking at maybe running two 1x15 cabs for playing bass. I have not yet decided on the preamp, but I want to drive both cabs with a decent power amp. I am looking for at least 400W per channel. The pre amp will be an old valve head of some description.
What recommendations would you suggest for cabs using a 15" speaker, I thought the SVT 115E is a fairly decent cab but I thought maybe even using PA speakers like an EV or something. Currently I am using a SVT810E. This sounds OK but I think I need more low end.
Thanks

you could get an SVT410HLF. that has more low end than the 810 does. weird, huh?

Hey, we had the same situation... the SVT810E was lacking the low end (we borrowed one from a friend for a month or so). We also played through a ported 4x10 (not an SVT) which had better low-end but was too boomy. I ended up getting a used SVT15E and it realy did the trick. Great low end. I play through a Sovtek MIG 100B and the combo sounds really good. We also use an old Altec horn for more mid-range crunch.

The SVT 115E is an awesome sounding cab. The 410s don't sound as good to me, but I've never heard them side by side.

i 2nd the SVT115E... mics up well and plenty of low end. moves enough air for use in studio and med size clubs. built solid too... not the best, but great cost/performance... fairly stackable/portable... a friend has the SVT118E, and to my ears the 15 responds just as well if not better to lower notes, and is much more toneful overall imo.

This company called "Madison" makes a cabinet with 2 10"s and 1 15" that might do the trick. I've used their speakers with really good results (not the cabinets, though, because I build my own). It's an American company, and the folks are really nice. you can check out their cabinets through
