questions about analog studio start up.

My wife and I & our buddy Chris are starting up a non profit studio in Huntington West(by God)Virginia in the next couple of months. The studio will also house a music/arts training program for low income musicians/artist. The reason for my post is I'm hugely inspired by what you all are putting down on tape. We denounce digital recording with all our hearts and ears and was just curious on what and how much would it take to start a analog based studio? .......Also do you guys ever donate used/unused gear? Thanks a bunch.

Scrounging around yard sales, thrift stores and classifieds might yield great results in finding some old reel to reel or cassette tape-based recorders. Schools sometimes have multi-tracks sitting around gathering dust as well. Speaking as someone that learned to record on a 4 track cassette 'back in the 90's', analog recording gives the newbie a lot of the education needed to arrange, bounce, edit and mix with authentic room for important error. After years of pursuing all the usual digital interfaces, I went back to buying a 1/2 inch 8 track machine and capable mixer and re-learning the trade. The last 3 records I've made have been the most personal, honest recordings in my catalog, and the opinion on the results from trusted outsiders concurs.Good luck in your endeavor and nice job keeping recording alive.

Yeah I started recording way back in 7 grade my mom bought me and my bro a karaoke machine. I discovered you could make overdubs with the 2 tape decks also the machine had that awesome(lol)warbbley reverb to boot! After that I borrowed my buds machine and connected it to mine my 1st 4-track! After that I purchased a actual brand name 4-track fast forward tape 20 years and many different recording machines I'm some how involved in a digitized work space ready to strap tnt to the interface and terminate the digital Satan spawn we call pro-tools! .....wow sorry about that rant I need medication due to being subjected to hours of my life wasted on trying to get a analog sound with digital poo. I want to give a shout out to Ben right here from EA. My wife and I took a tour of EA last Saturday and Ben was very informative on every question I threw at him. I tell you they have one top notch studio here. The one thing that stood out the most to me was how down to earth and friendly everyone was. Felt like you are at home as soon as you walk through the door....well I could go on forever about this place but I have to get back to work. Can't wait to get my 24 track studer and neotek council.......hey a brother can dream right???? Grace and peace.....yo.
