Actually, I could get along with one 21" zildjian Armand ride- I often play a friends kit for some stuff, and find it quite versatile- though I am no cymbal aficionado...And yes, I would name it Brenda.

Well, you asked for it. You should have seen that answer (or one like it) coming up sixth ave in a cab.(Oh and still the armand ride)

Fair enough. I'm looking for new candidates, but used to have a 20 Zildjian K Ride that just sounded great no matter what. Stephanie maybe?

Minimalist drum kit in a semi-loud band. You only get one cymbal. Name it.

I'm an idiot at drums, but it occurs to me that a larger Paiste Giant Beat might do the trick. (Unless you're prone to breaking cymbals).

The drummer for the Killers uses 16 or 18 (!) inch crashes for hats. Shit band, but an interesting idea:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHnnOguuuM0&feature=relatedThat said, if it came down to it, fuck hi-hats. You can always keep the beat on the rims, snare, stand, etc.
