American Dad??

Is anyone as excited about this show as me? Its Family Guy making fun of our wonderful government? And it continues the tradition of making fun of Lou Farigno and the 80s. Plus a nazi fish and a gay space alien? Does it get any better? Well yea it does, but for tv its pretty good..........

Since I'm not a fan of family guy, i wasn't really expecting to find American Dad that funny. And I didnt. Most pilot episodes are pretty weak however, in general. Because of its high concept and obvious similarities to an existing show I dont expect it to last a whole season. Overall the thing reminded me of 'That's My Bush' -- a successful tv show creator going on an ego trip to make some kind of statement.

no it didn't.

you must be those guys that don't get jokes, or went into it with a negative approach. I think it was pretty funny, it was an episode though that could've used some work, probably brought out too early. Its kinda daily show meets family guy, I think there is pontential for it to be a good series. How could you not laugh? the 19 year old dog, purse incident, roger calling himself a douchebag. There were definitely some good funny parts.

I had high expectations because Family Guy is so great. This show didn't live up to those expectations. I don't know if it actually sucked though. The goldfish was stupid. The daughter/father left/right dialogue was stupid. Nothing else was really that great or that bad. I think it definitely deserves a couple more episodes before I can judge.

Judging on just that episode alone:

Not Crap/WF 4

I watched the pilot having seen this thread, and I couldn't work out if it was supposed to be ironic or not?

The dad/daughter thing is so beyond clumsy that I found it hard to believe it was supposed to be a dig at the right-wing so much as a dig at clumsy socio-political comedy?

Are we sure that the show is not merely a pastiche of lazy comedy?
