I admire Avril Lavignes balls. That first song she did (about things being complicated) had about 3 guitarists in the video, yet all you could hear was keyboards.

I might do a grindcore song but make a video where we're all just playing flutes.

i like avril just fine. i also like kelly clarkson just fine. i think they are both talented singers. like, they were born to be singers, and they do it well.

as far as avril recording with steve? wow. hrm. i think it would be cool, provided the artist/management were looking at it is "we're getting more edgy, so it makes sense to record with someone who's not so pop-oriented" or something like that. if they were expecting steve to do a big hollywood-type production, i don't know, that sounds like maybe a bad idea. if they want it to sound like real, natural music, they *should* do it with steve. but if they want it to sound more manufactured and "over-produced"...

i like avril. i think if you put me in her position when i was her age, i wouldn't be able to do anywhere near as good as she does. not because she's got an edge, being a young grrrl. just because she's got really good command of her voice and everything.

let's not talk about lyrics. although again, when i was her age, my lyrics were *awful*.

while we're talking about unlikely combinations...

i've read here that steve doesn't like the strokes.

most people think they are overhyped, overlauded etc., and those who think that are probably right.

i liked "is this it," but i wasn't too hot on "room on fire."

all that aside...

i think their music would go really well with steve's recording aesthetic. anyone else agree? i would like to hear it. it won't happen, but i would like to hear it.

I'd like to record the Strokes. Instead of microphones, I will use stainless steel forks and knives. I think this technique would help the band reach its full potential.
