I will second the Roland JC 120 (or 77-both good). I would also suggest looking around for one of the 80's Peavey combos- The Session 400 is a fucking destroyer, as is the Reno, Vegas, Austin, Nashville, Special (there is a 1x12 Special 130 at a pawn shop by my house for $140). The Stereo Chorus is also outstanding. In Imipolex G I played a Stereo Chorus stacked on top of a Session 400. I dropped one of them down a flight of stairs and it was fine. The bass heads from that era are also outstanding-just reliable as all shit.

Standel made great solid state amps in the mid 60's that typically sell for really cheap. I have a hybrid, solid state pre, tube power section from '64 but by '65 they were all solid state.
