The reason why Blue Oyster Cult reached it's level of popularity was their P.R. firm of Meltzer and Pearlman. Once they left, only A. O.R. was there to appreciate them. I like "Don't Fear the Reaper" when it comes over the radio.

Cultosaurous Erectus is a pretty good lp. There's about a million awesome untapped samples, esp Monsters. Black Blade is about Moorcock's Stormblade...

I like _Tyranny & Mutation_ and their s/t a lot. Blue Oyster Cult in the 80's and beyond = Crap. On balance, Not Crap.

There's a cd of the pre-BÖC band Stalk Forrest Group around that's a good, though a little folkier than BÖC.
"Mes Dames Sarat" from the Secret Treaties remasters is great.
