Recording in a hardwood garage

2
Hey dudes,In the past couple months I've begun recording my band out of our garage. It has hardwood walls and floors, and the front wall is covered in foam. Front meaning where the drums are pointed. My band has already agreed to allow me to separate their amps completely from the room. We're going to be throwing them in our van just outside the door.I've done quite a bit of reading on acoustic treatment and most of the articles and forums I've read never mention anything about keeping the resonance in the room.I've heard of flutter reverb, but I think we have enough shit laying around that it's been taken care of.The ceiling is about 9' - 10'about 15' wide and 30' long. There is also a workbench that extends the entirety of the garage about 3' out from thew wall. You can see it pretty well in this video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q375iia-1ksFor the audio in this video I used the Glynn John's technique and close miced my toms, kick and snare. We left the carpet on the floor and the amps were in the room.I've been brainstorming lately and I think I've come up with a solution.Room:- No carpet- total fucking messDrums:- 6' - 8' out from back wall in the center line of the room.- OH's in some sort of spaced pair pointed down at kit. Snare phase- Whatever SDC pair I can rent on floor beside kit pointing at back wall. kick phase- SDC pair on floor 10' out front of kit pointed at the back wall. kick phase. As I'm sure we all do, I really enjoy Steve's work with The Jesus Lizard, Nirvana, and McLusky. What would help me get closer to this sound. If you guys would like a full list of gear that I have at my disposal, I would gladly post it.Cheers- Zack
