If you like Jandek or not, this is a great documentary about him. It does little to uncover the mysteries surrounding Jandek and his 25 years and 34 Lps worth of 'music' but rather does a great job of discussing and describing his odd and amazing body of work and the lack of additional information provided by him. The documentary film "Jandek on Corwood" will have its Chicago debut on Tuesday Dec. 2nd at 7:00 PM at the Intuit Gallery (756 N. Milwaukee Ave) as part of Intuit's annual Outsider Music Festival. Filmmaker Chad Freidrichs and producer Paul Fehler have put together a documentary exploring the mystery, the myth, and the music of Houston Texas recluse Jandek who has recorded and released 34 full-length albums in the past 25 years on his suspected own Corwood Industries imprint.

The film debuts at the Leeds International Film Festival in England and at the 48th Cork Film Festival in Cork, Ireland both this past October. The Chicago 'press screening' is open to the public and will be the first showing of the movie in the Midwest.

Other events on other evenings related to the Intuit Outsider Music Festival include a presentation/talk by Irwin Chusid, outsider music historian and author of the book "Songs in the Key of Z". There will also be musical performances by The Danielson Famile and Harvey Sid Fisher. Past years have included Daniel Johnston, Hasil Adkins, and Eugene Chadbourne.
