How was ATP?

ATP was fucking brilliant. Slint blew me away, it was rammed and like a 1000 degrees but worth every second. They played all there best tunes, washer, good morning captain, ect ect.

Others I enjoyed -

Melvin's
Mum
Deerhoof
Matmos
Mogwai

The staremaster competition was really funny, Its basically a dramatic stare out contest, and for all you people from England last nights round had a film crew from the Richard and Judy show come down and film it, its gona be shown on there programme on Tuesday.

One of the most brilliant things that happen was David Yow (Jesus Lizard) coming out and playing with the Melvin's and diving into the crowd naked!

All in all a very enjoyable weekend, can’t wait to see Slint again tomorrow night. They really are as good live as people say. Amazing!
ToM - If it wasn't for the last minute nothing would get done.

Bizarre.

I always had Richard pegged as more of a Sonic Youth kinda guy...

I thought it was OK. I think there have been better ones.

Slint were truly great. (N.B. The venue held everybody comfortably) all the good ones, fantastic sound, everything.
The Melvins slayed face.
Neil Hamburger. Sample gag: "Why did Metallica cut their hair? Because their hairdresser said it was the only way to get all the matted cum out of it."
Need New Body, and their fine merch.
Mum.
The party in our brand new chalet with members of several of the above bands which got broken up by security at 7am.

But to be honest, I thought a lot of the acts were, erm, crap. Spoon were billed in the programme as one of 'America's most radical independent rock bands'. They sounded like a fourth-rate Velvet Crush. Polar Goldie Cats were worse than my sixth-form post-rock band - and we were fucking terrible. Bad Wizard = Bad Nashville Pussy. Faun Fables - why? The long list of interesting low-volume folk acts were simply difficult to enjoy in the packed, hot, lightly drunken downstairs room. I think it needed a third, tiny stage.
Mark Kozelek cancelled.
The weather was starting to grate by the third day.
I really like my face slayed more than once at festivals. Short of the Melvins, there was no face slaying.

I don't feel ripped off. The atmosphere was good. Our chalet was in the VIP bit and new and warm and toasty. I went with and met some great people.

But it was probably the worst one I've been to.

I'm not into seeing naked men diving...but damn...I would have loved to have been there for that one.

Out of curiosity, was Kevin playing with them David?
