Contextually, Patton's quote was right on the money. Many times his comments and proclamations sound insensitive, but they cut to the crux of the matter. People like my father were fighting that war. My father remarked that in retrospect, Patton was trying to save as many lives and win as quickly as possible. "If we take the generally accepted definition of bravery as a quality which knows no fear, I have never seen a brave man. All men are frightened.
