Hey Love the drum sound on Memorial, lots of killer sounding kick...Can someone tell me what the box is in front of Dave Turncrantz's kick? Or any other general information about the drum tracking?Thanks!!Doug

This?I should let Greg answer, but it's pretty much just reversing the speaker to make it a microphone. The speaker cone moves when the air from the kick hits it, therefore it generates some current which you can use a DI to turn into a signal you can feed a preamp. So in essence it's a microphone that captures really low frequencies. Yamaha makes one, it's called SKRM-100SFV.

Really liking how the drums sound on Memorial. I think Dave actually sounds better on this vista kit. Just sounds a bit more rock on this recording imo, if that makes any sense... louder, deeper, more attack, great snare sound.

They are only getting better at what they do.Thanks.
