Basic Recording Question
1Hello All, I'm someone invested in one line of work (historical scholarship focused on interactions between Ottoman and European powers) very much invested n the practice of recording audio. I have been trying to make a viable demo with my band using what we have, but my efforts have been frustrated. We are a heavier outfit who enjoy the sound on High On Fire's earlier records. I am currently the guitarist of said project which also consists of a bassist, drummer, and vocalist. We have our own room in a practice studio which is usually completely empty aside from us. My question is, what is the bare minimum of equipment needed to record a demo? Our current equipment is, beside the bassist as he is new and I don't know yet:-7 piece drum kit plus cymbals-Ampeg VL-1002 into matching 4x12 with Celestion Vintage 30's-Mackie 16track mixer -ADAT Blackface 8-track- Mics the drummer procured with one on bass drum, one on Hi-Hat and two on hi-toms and low-toms. -CAD TSM (part of a drum package, its the snare mic I think)on the guitar cab. Trying to mix from the Mackie into a two channel interface to Ableton Live at the moment. I was considering using the ADAT Blackface as a pre-amp for the drums but this requires a certain level of patience to set up. If there is a way to utilize what we have now that would be amazing but if this is not the case, what else would we be needing?Realize I am new here but figured this would be the place to ask.
