Nothing really got off the ground with the April date. Also make setting things up a lot easier if we had volunteers for the following:Sound engineerDoor peopleMerch peopleClean up crew etc. It would be less things that the venues would have to provide and would make the whole thing more feasible. This may or may not be a BBQ type deal. But chill hangs and good eats will be assured. If I can get a go from the venue I'll throw up a band sign up sheet.

Was the conceptual April NYC event cancelled due to the North Carolina event? I think it was but don't remember if it was posted that it was actually off. Maybe Boombats needs to chime in, of course I think that a Labor Day event sounds great if available though I will probably be out of town.

I'd be happy to take a shift or two in any of the above mentioned roles.

Here's my plan; get a venue in NYC interested in a community based event--i expect this will be challenging but not insurmountable. If they're amenable to it, I'll go ahead and set up a booking thread. Also what's the feelings on the number of bands that play per day? I know it can get exhausting running through a gauntlet of great bands. I was thinking 6-8 bands per day and allowing for time to chill in-between.

If it's not a benefit for something then it's a failure. I volunteer to contract typhoid or something cool like that if you need a poster boy

Also - is anyone else in NJ? I'm in Jersey City and there seems to be a lot of venues but haven't seen much local music happening, mostly touring bands.

Also, just throwing it out there - are there a few NY area bands who would be interested in trying to set up a local show to test the waters a bit before we go for an all out bbq? The last few places we've played have shut down and I'm a bit out of touch.

I think if this is going to be an all-day thing you could do more than 6-8, especially if you backline cabs, shells, etc. My band, Cushing, would definitely be down to play as well.
