1978 Bass Preamp (Traynor TS-50B / TS-120B mod)
2Is that what the bass player in exhalants is using when they play live? It sounds incredible

3Very cool. If I didn't have a 120B, I'd be all over one of these.

5Thanks. That eq is the one thing I don't like about those.

6This looks rad. I have no desire to ever play bass in a band but this made me reconsider that for about five seconds.

7If Bill sees this then he can confirm but I believe so, yes. He was instrumental in helping me develop this preamp and helped me add a bunch of mods (knobs for boost amount, XLR volume, other little things) and he has had one version or another of these for about a year. I would assume he is using his current version of this in his rig. I know he used it in the attached recordings in my OP.

8Theres really no benefit for an FX loop that I could think of, since the output stage of this preamp would be where the "send" of an FX loop would be. If you really wanted one, I could make it happen. Im not opposed to making specific changes to fit peoples needs. One guy asked me for a dual mono output from the master and I was able to add that without a problem, for instance.

9Sounds great for guitars and synths, too. Its the TS circuit. Was originally made for guitar and later used for bass. They didnt change the schematic in any notable way.

10I did not design it with a switch to toggle the EQ. Ive had one or two people ask but when I was building my prototype, I decided to exclude that switch because Id never use it. EQ switch and FX loop seem to be the two major asks. I will keep it in mind for future builds! But for now, most people dont seem to need it.
