Hi, I 'm looking for a mic witch could be a good alternative to Beyer m380. Unfortunately, this microphone is not available, even used (except for lucky ones).So what would you recommend to get this sound on a bassdrum? Steve talked about ribbon mics because of their 8 directivity. But, to be honest, I find it a big risk. Any idea? A combination of mics maybe?

I prefer condensers on kicks nowadays. I'll gladly sell you my M380.

What condenser do you use and where do you place it from the bassdrum? I know a lot of engineers do so, but I never really experienced this way of tracking bassdrum.
