Only ever podcasts. If I get stuck into music I end up losing form. Motivation is never a problem, but I like to have some ambient chatter just to mark time a little.

I am fascinated by how many folks exercise to upbeat music. I literally can't imagine that. It's always been a heavy/fast/catharsis head space for me. Curious to see what other folks here are playing.HOF and Hot Snakes have been part of my workout routine for a long time now. May try Austerity Program but the drum machine never did it for me when I tried to get into em years ago.

I'm really tired of all my workout/gym/running playlists and music. What do people have on their headphones these days when they're staying motivated at the gym or on a run or whatever?

I'm a fairly obsessive person and I find muscle memory tricks of repetition to be useful to get things done. I rarely listen to something that I'm not intimately familiar with when I work out. For weights-Om ( Hiakus era)Fugazi pre argumentLandedTJL The ExEarlier HelmetCardio-LCD Soundsystem-Sound of SilverAmerican Dream( I listen to those records repeatedly 75 percent of the time during cardio for past 2 years.) I'm dull but it works.Sometimes early Blonde Redhead. Some Pan Sonic . Some Kraftwerk and some Can.

Usually I only listen to music jogging when it's cold enough outside to wear a hoodie or a stocking cap. I have a workout playlist, a lot of it is song specific. I think that 'B.O.B.' by Outkast might be the best song ever to jog to. Shuffle:Justin Timberlake - SexybackR.E.M. - I'm Gonna DJPulp - Mis-ShapesProdigy - Fire Justice - DVNOBruce Springsteen - Detroit Medley (Live)Bruce Springsteen - Out in the Street (Live)Pet Shop Boys - Always on My MindU2 - All Because of YouFranz Ferdinand - This BoySystem of a Down - ForestTalking Heads - Puzzlin' EvidenceRush - Subdivisions

I find the Meantime album by Helmet to be most useful.
