DDA Console Phantom Power Problem

Hey Chris,Just moved your question of the tech journal (meant just for my records).First thing I can think of is an imperfect connection of all 3 conductors from the console mic input to the mic, particularly the shield, since dynamic mics work. Do your mic lines route through a patchbay? Are you connecting the mic to the console directly, with a known working mic cable (no interruptions, extra connections)?

I get signal from dynamics fine, and I measure +48 on the XLRs at the board's inputs, but when I connect a phantom powered mic I get nothing, maybe some noise. PSU checks out ok, but I was wondering if you had any thoughts before I start tearing into the console. It's transformerless if that's helpful. Thanks,-Chris

I've seen 48 V supplies that measure fine unloaded, but collapse once a mic is connected. Typically it's the regulator IC (LM783 in this case) that's the culprit.
