I'm not talking whether we shouldn't continue discussing Slint's $40 hoodies or if Billy Joel is crap, but whether some of those very special threads about is it sad or not sad to feed a cat should be resurrected. Is the magic gone? Can we start another thread about Fred Magnan Guitars and hope it will lure claytron back in?

i absolutely think we should start new ones because it's the dawning of a new era.

the thing about the archived Crap Not Crap is that any voting after 2008 is gone. the posts are there, but there was no way to retrieve the actual vote tallies.

start new threads, new arguments, etc.

I say we let a lot of sleeping logs die. Make some space for new folk. (the ones who know the community through the Events, the records and the Facebook page, not the old forum)

If it happens naturally - e.g. we want to argue Fun House vs. Raw Power - no reason to specifically avoid it because it's already in the archive. With new folks, that will probably happen anyway.

Going out of our way to resurrect things from the archive feels excessive, though. In my mind, the bar for whether an old thread is worth resurrecting is higher in C/NC than GD, which is itself higher than the Tech Room.

I feel like either way is okay. I also still feel that Billy Cougar Springstegercamp is crap.

Whatever conversation happens is starting from scratch, IMO.

Regardless, I did save pictures of most of the best "design the worst band t-shirt ever" that hadn't already disappeared due to link-rot, in case anyone wants to resurrect that thread.

I favor a fresh start.
