As an outgrowth of a nearly 20 year friendship, Paride Lanciani (guitarist/engineer) from the Piemonte region of Italy, and Chicagoan Ryan Duncan (modular synth/sound design) finally embarked on their own musical collaboration. Notwithstanding the fact that they live in different countries, and despite the raging chaos of 2020, within a few weeks the pair had assembled the raw materials for several new compositions, and realized something remarkable was beginning to coalesce.
It was immediately obvious that a couple more essential workers would have to be enlisted as a rhythm section in order to flesh the songs out. Invited out of the blue, Tony Nozero, a seasoned drummer from The Big Easy, fortunately agreed to hold things down on the drum kit with his intricate yet laid back patterns. Bringing things back home to Chicago, bassist extraordinaire Becka Joynt was ultimately sought out to weave in her magic as the final cohesive element.
Hailing from three very different cities, using technology and social media to interface, Slowdown Mercury has come together in such a uniquely serendipitous and modern way. We humbly ask that you may invite our music into your life as part of your new normal.
Related musical entities include Drums And Tuba, Burned or Buried, Maniac Du Jour, Kash, Quatre Tete, Instrumental Quarter, Transmontane, The Distances and Sick Room Records LTD.

4Yeah, quality work Ryan and co. I kinda got some Flying Nun vibes from that track (no relation to the flying objects in the video!)
