Top Five Times I Couldn't Stop My Mouth From Making Words
1. That time I drew "R+L" in a heart on the inside of my fogged-up windshield as I was making out with Kim, followed her out of the car and somehow got her to let me put my arms around her and apologize, and then said, "I love you, Lynn."
2. When I threatened a guy with physical action at a show if he didn't stop jumping onto my broken foot. Him I could probably have handled, broken foot and all. His friends? Not so much, as it turned out.
3. At the very end of making his funeral arrangements, when I told the out-of-town family of a man who had driven his pickup off the road late at night and died on his way home from work, "Be careful on your way down there...the roads are kind of treacherous at night."
4. Working at a graduate school bookstore and telling a guy who was complaining about the price of a tube of replacement leads for a mechanical pencil in relation to the price of the actual mechanical pencil that, "No one is putting a gun to your head," after having been warned about that kind of thing by my manager, who, as it happened, was standing behind me.
