not a bad one in the bunch, but After the Gold Rush has been a best friend to me for 30+ years, so I gotta go with that. I had Live Rust and Rust Never Sleeps in rotation recently and of course that live band was perfect and in peak form then. I was more into those Ditch Trilogy records in like the early aughts and there's a charming "warts and all" approach, but I don't really think they have, you know, more "gritty and real" genuineness than other, more produced 70s stuff.

Yep. And as much as I love the Thrasher/Ride My Llama/Pocahontas sequence on RNS, Live Rust is the one for me.

One side of acoustic goodness, one side of the lighter rock tunes, and then an entire LP of sludgemelt.

Also the first NY record I ever owned, so extra points for sentiment.
