This morning a memory from college days returned. My roommates and I would often wake up to Cheap Trick at maximum volume, and I always enjoyed the song "Gonna Raise Hell." Which, one day as I prepared breakfast, became "Gonna Make Eggs." I had not thought about that in years, until today.

When I was a teenager, someone gave me a taped copy of Reign In Blood. In an attempt to transcribe what I was hearing lyrically, I wrote down “Hot smiths, the meaning of pain, the women all want you to die.” I told my friends about it, and from that day on we called wrongly-sung lyrics “hot smiths”.

I will never not start At the Gates' Blinded by Fear with, "I bought a sewing machine..."

My two favorites:
