In the hope that FM sleepkid / Craig will return to delight us with his knowledge of the MIJs, here are a few favourites from my collection (yes, I have a problem and I've acknowledged it).

Recognizing some of these from the old board!

How do you like the Morales? I've had two Univox Hi-Fliers over the years and neither did the trick for me, even though I really wanted them to.

Same, if I'm honest - it's really cool but somehow I don't click with it. It's beautifully made and I'm a huge Ricky Wilson fan, otherwise I'd be moving it along. Probably will someday.

I have that same Teisco red short-scale bass. Mine is in battleship grey and those pickups were wretched so I had a buddy put a P in there and routed a new pickguard for it w/ green pearl. Even uglier now, dgaf.

Also the round curve on the headstock appears to have been sawn off so it is a pointy spear-looking bastard now.

Thinnest fretwire ever.

I'll get a photo when I'm not on my work computer. Gave a baritone to Dylan from the God Eaters that he is having a lot of fun with. I think I've thinned out most of my other "interesting" Japanese guitars - like you all have said above, as cool as many of them are, many are still pretty wonky to play even after being properly set-up.

Not a guitar, but this video has a few Royal Super Bunny/Burny amps in the background. Not the same as the big orange one from the old forum that Sleepkid and Dr. Balls worked on. Some cool, old Japanese circuits discussed too.

I've posted this before, but that's a Custom Tele Deluxe made by Hayashi/Zenon. It's a great guitar, although I need to ground the bridge. I would love to find an off-brand Jazzmaster like that Mory.

Not sure all of these are 'bizarre' but some of them are pretty nice and they're all made in Japan
