Yeah, there were some smart people who I hardly ever agreed with on v1 of board, but I still read their stuff. If all yr here to do is oWn the LiBs and post a bunch of videos of Fat Mike or whatever, you're not worth anyone's time.

Last year, July or thereabouts, I left another music forum that I used to frequent. The level of shitposting, trollery and bad-faith engagement in the off-topic areas (mostly anything concerning Covid and/or politics) got so distracting and unpleasant, that I just had to back away. Imagined-wrongings from one debate would follow you around from one thread to another, and some of the chief instigators were "exalted" due to long-standing relationships with mods. It was toxic, and I've never ventured back.

Vigourous, reasoned debate is one thing, and should be encouraged. Dickwads out to engineer a shitty atmosphere for everyone, not so much. Anything that allows for the safe clipping of such wads, is alright with me.

Never used it once, it's so very completely easy to ignore stuff, we do it all the time already.

I think in social media at this point I've probably blocked between three to five people altogether in my entire life, and those were people I personally hated for actual personal real life reasons. I don't see the point of "choosing not to see", and I don't think it adds up to any good in the end.
