As a whole, Not Crap for some wildly imaginative guitar playing. The EPs were probably the peak, the albums that bookended those were pretty good and the rest of it ranges from a good track here and there to completely forgettable.

I need to go back and listen to all of their stuff, it's been many years since I have, but the two I listened to the most and loved were 'Celebrate the New Dark Age' and 'Exploded Drawing'. Very not crap, those two records. If you like interlocking two guitar bands, you'll find plenty to enjoy and plenty of WTF moments that'll make you wonder how the hell they came up with that.
Also, probably the only notable cultural export the state of North Carolina has ever produced???

Love every iteration of this band. I hear people call them a combo of SY and Television, but there’s so much more to them than that.
If you like the later period post reformation records, Black Taj is worth a listen.

"Channel Changer" is a magnificent song; not crap alone for that one.

NC of course.
And FM Bob Weston did some of his best work with the recordings. They sound perfect to my ears, natural laid back and real.

Probably most true of
Exploded Drawing. I wouldn't necessarily say
Today's Active Lifestyles sounds great, and
Shapes sounds a little 4 track-y much of the time too. I recently had a IRL conversation of whether Polvo qualifies as a 'lofi band' or not..
(my favorite BW recordings are the Shipping News records)
