Possum Kingdom seemed to be a pretty ubiquitous staple of alternative/modern rock radio in the 90s, and is now one of those songs that made the crossover into present day AOR frequent fliers. That said...I hate it. It's a major triumph for E7 and a quirky little time signature, but that's about it. Vocals are overwrought, lyrics are right out of a middle school notebook, and I've heard it enough in my lifetime to have done my penance.

Pretty decent single of its time. I listened to Rubberneck a few months back and as a whole it didn't hold up very well. Way more tame and thin than my memory of it.

But mild NC for this song's post-Pixies catchiness.

That's the bass and drums on this track. They DO NOT want any part of this Pearl Jam meets Maroon Five vileness.

If I had discovered that band back in the day, as a teenager, I'd probably became a fan.

But I listened them for the first time a few years ago and found it terribly mediocre. So derivative, so predictable.

I was in the target demographic for this tripe when it came out, and didn't like it then. Thankfully, like similar band Dishwalla, I haven't heard them in years.

I thought Rubbernecker was badass at the time, and there are a couple great songs on the record. Possum Kingdom is not one of them.

These days, this album is a really hard listen. It definitely has not aged well.

I remember hearing this song and the Filter song a lot in 1995 or whatever. Both songs were tolerable, but never preferable.
