This thread, for the stuff that's doing your head in, and requires the combined force of the PRF where other methods are failing.
What was that record? It came out within the last few years. A guitarist who was diagnosed with something that affected their playing. You can hear it in some of the music. I can't for the life of me think of the title, or artist, but we did discuss it here back in the day. It was very good.

2Got it - it's Derek Bailey's Carpal Tunnel. Well done brain.
Christ, 2005? Thought it was much more recent. Has there been something of a similar nature by someone since?

5Okay, I'm trying to figure out what song is playing at the 24:30 mark of Season 1, Episode 4 of the Netflix series StartUp. Here is a snippet of it, but there's more of it in that scene. (Note: you will have to listen with headphones, as the song is diagetic and in the background.)
I have asked here, in a different thread. I have posted the question in at least 3 different Reddit threads. I e-mailed Vish Khanna and Joe Wong and Tom Scharpling. No one knows.
So ... any ideas?

6I have an idea - that bit at the end of that clip where it's clearer, run it through an EQ to bring it out a bit more and hide the foreground noise a bit more then Shazam it.Anonymous37 wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 11:46 pm Okay, I'm trying to figure out what song is playing at the 24:30 mark of Season 1, Episode 4 of the Netflix series StartUp. 7Okay, I tried this, and got this track. And, as I expected, Shazam gave nothing.Curry Pervert wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 5:48 pmI have an idea - that bit at the end of that clip where it's clearer, run it through an EQ to bring it out a bit more and hide the foreground noise a bit more then Shazam it.Anonymous37 wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 11:46 pm Okay, I'm trying to figure out what song is playing at the 24:30 mark of Season 1, Episode 4 of the Netflix series StartUp. It's possible that I'm not adequately boosting the music with respect to the background noise (I'm not sure what frequencies I could use to subtract it out -- I used Audacity, and none of the Effects tools did a better job than what's in that new link). But I suspect that this song isn't in Shazam at all in the first place.
However, if anyone can suggest what EQ settings might bring out the song more and kill more of the noise, I'm certainly up for trying Shazam again with a cleaner clip.

8I did think it was a bit of a long shot, well done for having a go. There's also a good chance you're right that it isn't in the shazam database.Anonymous37 wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 9:59 pmOkay, I tried this, and got this track. What I had more in mind was parametric EQ, so you can boost or cut by a large amount then when you sweep the frequency it will become apparent.

9Yeah. I forgot to mention that I even contacted Ian Broucek, the music supervisor for that episode, via Facebook Messenger and asked him. No reply.jason from volo wrote: Sat Aug 28, 2021 12:55 pm ^ I'm quite curious if you (or anyone) end up finding a result. I spent about 30 minutes trying to figure it out by trial and error and obviously failed. I tried typing in what I thought were phrases used in the lyrics into Google and that lead me nowhere. More specifically, it lead me to a bunch of Christian rock songs (keying on the phrase "make me whole again", which I may be mishearing).
But thanks for giving it a shot (and thank you, Curry Pervert, for the suggestions). I'm thinking that I'll just have to let it remain a mystery.

10Okay I swear to god there was a Homestar Runner cartoon where the punchline was something like "sorry, but I have to get home in time to masturbate." I think I may be thinking of another flash toon of a similar era, but I have no idea what. Am I synthesizing two different things or what?
