Not bad, they sound old, but don't pander with the obligatory Pharrell guest spot.

They were offered a round billion, or so it goes.Wellsyuk wrote: Tue Sep 07, 2021 6:34 am I think they came back to cheer people up so good on them, songs are OK enough I guess. I seem to remember them being offered millions to reform a decade or so ago and didn't. Whilst completely and utterly overplayed, Dancing Queen always takes me back to childhood and Agnetha crushes.
In short, their pop songs are highly composed and technically refined, in the lineage of traditional "standards" and dance hall composers of the past, but tastefully updated to a rock and disco era. Their lyrics are also full of pathos, without having to be obtuse, or falling into the obnoxious verbosity of musical theater.penningtron wrote: Tue Sep 07, 2021 6:53 am Never understood the appeal of this schlock. Having said that, they are both better than most contemporary chart drivel.
Tough call. Pure waffle factor.
I’d never thought of them as Schlager, but it is obvious. Exceptional Schlager.zorg wrote: Wed Sep 08, 2021 7:52 am In the US they were never considered anything more than just another disco act...but in Europe they were the apex of the "Schlager" music .
