Ok PRF 2.0. Let's get back to business.

Listening to "He Loved Him Madly" and I had to remind myself that this guy made records with CHARLIE PARKER.

It's no secret that he had numerous personal shortcomings. Perfect example of separating art vs. artist.

But this is Crap/Not Crap after all.

He's a titan.

To echo what was said above, I've never heard or read anything about him that gave me a particular feeling of warmth for the man himself, but his musical mind and artistic accomplishments are unfuckwithable.

NC. If there's a single Crap vote for 'Artist: Miles Davis', the offender should be tagged for the good of their community.

I mean.. he shifted the musical landscape what, maybe 3 or 4 times? He was a fascinating character musically: on the one hand domineering, the other giving his players tons of freedom. He was the focal point, but also an unflashy player. I don't know if he cared about launching others' careers but he did.

A bit of a sad decline when he started hitting the drugs pretty hard but c'mon..

I don't know which of his records are going to the desert island with me, but I can guarantee that, should I be shipped off to one, Miles will be the only stuff I take because I will never ever tire of listening to his music

"it never entered my mind" NC for that tune alone.

I know it's the record that doesn't earn cooler-than-thou bonus points, but Kind of Blue is {for me) a record that is rare in that as massively 'rated' as it is, it can't really be said to be over-rated. Well, I guess you can say it is, but you're not right.

There are hardly any records as good.
