Your favorite band in one song

If somebody asked you for one song and one song only that sums up everything you like about a favorite band, what would it be?

I have consistently loved REM through each of their phases, and if somebody asked me to distill what I like about REM into one song, this is it. The beat, the message, the harmony, the jangle… It’s like taco REM.

There are a lot from REM I could choose. I'd probably go with Cuyahoga.

Pavement? Another tough one. Maybe Loretta's Scars.

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath has everything I love bout Ozzy and co.

Wanna know what's Unwound about? Go check All souls day.

Everything great about Tar you have it on Short Trades.

I have several favorite bands but this was the first thing that sprang to mind.

Same song for me, I go with this version that follows the EZ Listening arrangement

For Poster Children I have to go with a live version as well

Not as easy a pick for the Hip, but for today at least, this is it.

Hands down, no other song seems closer to what Tupe was about.

What is my favourite band? I feel put on the spot by this question. I try to reach back into the past to find some "always have been", but that seems fake, I don't feel it. Anything that would feel right as an answer, my instinctive thought, is all recent and present, which makes it seem more ephemeral. But why shouldn't this count for just as much? I am in the recent and the present and the ever-changing after all, this is where I am. This is what means something to me, and what means is what matters, don't second guess yourself bro.

So then, there would be two:

Warpaint - Keep it Healthy

Willow Smith - Born to Give
