Ooh, I like how campy and kind of vaudeville some of that stuff is- there's like a gypsy jazz undercurrent.

I love some of Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell's records, in terms of pretty big name contemporary people who don't play stupid Nu country. All of Neko Case's catalog is great to me, but she's less country every album. In fact a lot of the newer stuff I like kind of crosses the line into folk.

Joan Shelley is a magician.

Don't even get me started on classic country, there's a deep well there. I tend to like the outlaw/lefty country stuff the most from the 60's-90's. Townes Van Zandt, Merle Haggard, Steve Earle, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine.

Go to a thrift store and buy every 25 cent best of record that the sleeve is made to look like it is embossed leather. It's probably good. Also, Tom T. Hall records with the song Little Baby Ducks on them. Also, and I might be alone here, every Roger Miller record. Buck Trent was a bad ass too.
Was Japmn.
