The Complete Truth About De-evolution

I saw the new DVD last night. Fabulous early footage, top rate commentary and a fucking Chuck Statler interview that'll have you quaking. And if you thought you knew everything there was to know about David Bowie pre - 1979 (and I did) then this movie will give you pause. Now maybe I understand the "crap" David Bowie ratings around here. But perhaps above all was the story of how they came up with the Satisfaction cover. In terms of ingenuity, counterintuitiveness, quality execution and just overall concept that cover is unparalleled in my mind. I have devoted no small amount of time to figuring out how the fuck they came up with it. Apparently they practiced in an unheated "bunker" (accessible only via a car wash) and the morning Satisfaction was born the temperature was below zero. Gerald Casale started playing Paint It Black and Mark Mothersbaugh morphed it into Satisfaction and after going on for a few hours it became the twisted form of Satisfaction we all know. Beautiful. I challenge anyone to come up with a better song genesis story than that.
Northeast Ohio, what's in the fucking water over there? I mean besides whatever set the Cuyahoga River on fire.
