Anyone own/owned a vintage Hagstrom Swede? I've been interested in getting another LP-type guitar, and have been interested in one of these. I know they're all mahogany and heavy. If so, what did you like/not like about it?

I owned one for a bit. It was heavy! It sounded fine but not amazing and just wasn't worth the sore shoulder. If it had been lighter, I might have kept it and swapped the pickups because I thought it looked pretty cool.

My buddy in the 90s was obsessed with 70s Hagstroms he must have had 5 or 6 of em when we were teenagers. I think his Dad owned a couple of those but they worked their way over to my house. I dug them, I at that point had never played a Les Paul besides a Studio, so I cant compare exactly, but he really dug them. I was playing a Bean at the time, and the Hagstrom was certainly lighter than my standard. I would guess it was close to 9 lbs.

It was definitely over 10. I had a 70's Les Paul that was 10.5lbs and the Swede bothered me more than it did.

Never played one but always thought the brown mahogany ones looked cool. Look a bit bigger than a les paul so probably as heavy as the specific piece of wood. They used to be affordable in the early 2000s when I was looking for a LP type. Several years later I just got a nice Japanese LP.
