Things you can't stand about specific products, or general equipment-related perturbances.
specific: MXR (and other pedal companies): they put the DC input super close to the 1/4" input jack, making hooking everything up in a tidy unobtrusive way nearly impossible.
general: the Volume knob has to be the most common cause of shitty guitar or bass tone for people who don't use it properly.
Re: Gear peeves
2Yep the MXR pedals have that annoying DC input, totally agree.
The only annoying gear related thing that happens to me regularly is losing guitar picks. I just throw them around everywhere and then I can't find any when I need one.

3The Gear: Current production EHX pedals
The Peeve: I can break them simply by giving them a stern look.

Re: Gear peeves
61/8" outputs. Use a 1/4" for fuck sake.
Also, any jack that doesn't have a nut to secure it in place. You are just asking for those solder joints holding it to the PCB to FAIL.

Re: Gear peeves
7Beat me to it. Inexplicably stupid. Maybe it makes sense if you never play rhythm of any kind and only ever do volume swells. I got rid of one of the tone knobs and put the volume there.WeStartToDrift wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 7:31 am Strats are so comfortable to play except for the goddamn volume knob.
I'll add the Jazzmaster bridge. Buzzy, unintonatable junk.
All the rest of Leo's ideas were great.
Re: Gear peeves
8These are all great.
My #1 gear peeve is my day job. For the past XX years (note double-digits) my job as been such that there are sometimes lulls/boredom stretches & I don't have direct tasks to do so I distract myself w/ gear videos, gear reviews, gear gear gear gear buying/selling/trading and that has slowly taken my focus away from what I came here to do: make fucking music.
I think I need to relent and just keep an instrument and a practice amp or practice pad up here to noodle/tap on between tasks. Was trying to keep work/music separate but I need to try some different approach and maybe just fucking around instead of googling shit. This seems so obvious I feel dumb for not doing it sooner but I think maybe mentally I've treated it like a bathroom book/magazine that once it goes in there, it's somehow forever tainted.
