Fighting Dust in Home Studio/Office

1
Searched but couldn't find anything: Any tips or experiences with winning the dust battle in a one-room home studio/office on a tiny budget? Interested in ideas for small air filters and/or really effective vacuums that I might be able to find used for cheap. My room here at home is extremely dusty for a number reasons (place was dusty from the beginning when we moved in, it's on a busy street, windows and doors are old and super drafty, we have a kid who tracks in more stuff, all my places have always been dusty and so I probably brought a lot with me, all that good stuff). I don't have any carpet or pets, so those are not factors. Flooring is laminate in the whole place. Thanks a lot in advance!

My studio is in the basement of an old building so even with constant cleanings and good air exchange there is some amount of super fine dust that will always vibrate its way through the floor/ceiling above.

I have several soft paintbrushes lying around that I neurotically dust my rack, worksurfaces and pedals with.
Synths and amps are usually covered with towels when not in use for more than a couple days.
I don't know if its a good idea for everything, but I use Armor All automotive wipes for some stuff - good on tolexed stuff.
DIY and die anyway.

Built a couple of these for the Campout last year. I would think this could be a very low-dough solution to help suck in dust to the filters (based on what I see on my furnace filter). Since we are talking about just trying to filter out dust, you could build to a (potentially much) lower spec than MERV 13 and this would end up being extremely cost-effective although it does take up a pretty big footprint...about the size of a bass drum. But I'd bet you could do this with any fan.

I mean if we're just talking about dust, I'd think even slapping a 20" x 20" furnace filter on the intake side of any box fan would do the job.

yeah that's a really good point - if you own the place too you can make something nice
